It's a great book. I'm always looking for ways to be more productive. There are some great tools out there. What I liked about Gawande's book is that something so simple can make such a huge difference.

I have only recently begun to really appreciate the value of checklists in my own working life, and you're absolutely right. The VP of Marketing for AR has really pushed me to start utilizing checklist tools like BaseCamp HQ, and it has made a TREMENDOUS difference in my workflow, work ethic, and necessary level of coffee intake (which has dropped significantly).

Thank you for the Atul Gawande book suggestion... Purchasing the eBook now.
Stand together, Captain.

Matt,

I agree. There's a balance here. I love the Jim Collins concept of having the right people "on the bus' and on the "right seats" on the bus. At Astonish we look for people who are smart and fit into our culture. The simple truth is that not everyone does. Thanks for your comments!

I've recently adopted the opinion that if the unemployment rate is @ 10%, it is not far from the truth 10 out of 100 employees are "unemployable". When the unemployment rate drops a few percentage points, it may merely be a grim indicator that a company with an average staff of 100 is probably employing a few under achievers. This too, might be too harsh. Great blog!
